I think we can handle same things through BADI.Just try with USMD_UI_EVENT2 BADI.
Implementation class : CL_MDG_BS_MAT_UI_BADI
IF_EX_USMD_UI_EVENT2~MODIFY_DEFINITION
Might be it will help full for solve the issue.
